Wilson's fame travelled to America in 2014, when she appeared on Showtimes The Affair. She played Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her background and falls in love with Noah Solloway. Wilson won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress for a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated in British Vogue: "I love being able to portray characters from two angles." Noah sees Alison as this confident, reckless sexually attractive version of her. But in real life Alison regards herself as dowdy. Wilson continued: "I do believe America is morally and judging, so what happens in the show appears to be quite shocking." Wilson, who left The Simpsons in the year 2018, was not forthcoming with details. I was tempted to quit, but she wouldn't let me talk about the decision. In 2016 she starred in the horror flick I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House and in 2017 played the cryptic character PT Stella in the sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. In addition to adding more horror genre onto her film credits, she's slated to star in the British film version of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller that is based upon a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson will be executive producing the film.
