Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has appeared in film and on television, in addition to in stage productions, is known for her role as Teri Joseph, a flamboyant attorney in the show on Showtime called Soul Food. In the years following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to as Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as a child, she displayed the desire to act. She won the Best Actress Award at a Maryland High School competition. Following her time in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting degree at the New York University. She received a lot of praise for her first big part on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. Her performance in the TV show Soul Food' was immensely appreciated. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. She appeared on stage for a number of shows early on in her career. Parker is engaged to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. They have two children together.
Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria at the age of was seven years old, was well-versed in different cultures around the world and was able to travel at such a young stage. She was a boarding student in London between the ages of seven and nine, after which her family moved towards Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her youth and early adulthood. When she was in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as a classical ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school in which she studied more than just dance but also theater. Contractor was dancing for over 10 years by the time she was and decided to focus on acting. As soon as she finished high school, she won an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and she also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was awarded the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian reviewers praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash training in classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the following season of productions and was offered the part of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
